React Native setup

Set up the Gamified Quiz in React Native

The quiz ships in @questlabs/react-native-sdk (version 2.1.2 on npm as of September 2026) as the useGamifiedQuiz hook plus the Gamified component. The hook reads apiKey and entityId from QuestProvider, so the component from the code sample above has to render inside the provider.

  1. 1. Install the React Native SDK

    On Expo, install the package on its own. On the React Native CLI, add react-native-svg as well.

    # Expo
    npm install @questlabs/react-native-sdk

    # React Native CLI
    npm install @questlabs/react-native-sdk react-native-svg
  2. 2. Wrap your app in QuestProvider

    Keep QuestProvider and the useGamifiedQuiz call in separate files: the provider goes in App.js and the quiz component is its child.

    App.js

    import React from "react";
    import { QuestProvider } from "@questlabs/react-native-sdk";
    import GamifiedComponent from "./GamifiedComponent";

    export default function App() {
      return (
        <QuestProvider apiKey="your-api-key" entityId="your-entity-id">
          <GamifiedComponent />
        </QuestProvider>
      );
    }

React Native notes

  • The token prop is userToken on both the hook and Gamified. Pass questId, questUserId and userToken, or pass your own userId (with authenticationToken on QuestProvider) and the hook signs the user in and returns questUserId and userToken.
  • Peer dependencies: react ^18.2.0 and react-native >=0.71.0.
  • QuestProvider also accepts an optional fontFamily object (regular, semibold, italic). On Expo, load custom fonts with expo-font first.
