9 Best UserGuiding Alternatives for SaaS Onboarding

9 Best UserGuiding Alternatives for SaaS Onboarding

The quick answer

Quick answer: UserGuiding is good value at its price, so the best alternative depends on what it doesn't give you. For native mobile support, compare Product Fruits, which supports native iOS apps, and Userpilot Enterprise, which lists mobile engagement. For deeper product analytics, look at Userpilot or Pendo. For design control and A/B testing on a self-serve plan, try Chameleon. For a lower entry price, Flows and PLG OS (our own product) both have free tiers, and Product Fruits Starter is $111 a month on annual billing at 1,500 MAUs. Prices are as of November 2026, checked on each vendor's own site.

What UserGuiding offers, and why teams look elsewhere

UserGuiding is a no-code product adoption tool. You build guides, hotspots, checklists, surveys and a resource center on top of your web app with a Chrome extension, and it adds a knowledge base and an AI assistant.

UserGuiding pricing is by monthly active users. Starter is $249 a month billed yearly ($2,988 a year), starting at 2,000 MAUs, and Growth is $499 a month billed yearly ($5,988 a year). Enterprise is a custom quote. There is a 14-day free trial with no card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Teams usually compare alternatives for one of these reasons:

  • Native mobile apps: the pricing FAQ says UserGuiding doesn't support native mobile apps at the moment. Content shows in modern browsers on any device, and screens under 800px need a conversation with the team.
  • Plan quotas: Starter allows 15 active guides, 10 hotspots, 1 checklist and 1 survey, and it covers up to 10K MAUs before you need Growth.
  • Features held for Growth: no-code event tracking, advanced analytics reporting, session replay, A/B testing and the feature request board all start at Growth.
  • What happens at the limit: if you pass your MAU quota, your users stop seeing your guides until you raise the quota or MAUs fall back under it. You aren't charged extra, but onboarding can go quiet.
  • Budget: a small product with few users may not want a $249 monthly starting point.

1. Userpilot

Who it is for: SaaS product teams whose next question is why users drop off, not only how to guide them.

Pricing: Userpilot Starter is $299 a month for up to 2,000 MAUs. Growth starts at $849 a month and adds advanced analytics, event autocapture, a resource center and 5,000 session replays a month. Enterprise is custom.

Strengths: funnels, retention and paths on Growth, and an AI agent and MCP server listed on every plan.

Limits: Starter costs more than UserGuiding Starter, and funnels, retention and paths are not on it. Mobile engagement is an Enterprise feature.

2. Userflow

Who it is for: product, growth and customer success teams that want a no-code builder and many people working in it.

Pricing: Userflow has Essentials and Studio plans from 1,000 MAUs plus a custom Enterprise plan, and seats are unlimited on all plans. The page uses a price calculator that we couldn't read reliably, so we don't quote a figure here. MAUs are added in blocks of 1,000.

Strengths: a no-code editor, a FlowAI builder for a first draft, and in-app agents that answer, guide and take action on higher plans.

Limits: check the calculator at your own MAU count before you compare it with UserGuiding.

3. Product Fruits

Who it is for: teams that want a published price, native iOS support and AI-led onboarding.

Pricing: Product Fruits shows Starter at $111, Pro at $187 and Business at $374 a month at 1,500 MAUs, with 25% off for annual billing. The free trial gives full access and needs no card. Prices change with the MAU slider.

Strengths: tours, hints, checklists, banners, a help center and a knowledge base, plus Elvin, its AI agent for conversational onboarding. Its FAQ says it supports every web-based app and native iOS apps.

Limits: Starter allows 15 tours and 2 checklists, and extra AI conversations are sold in paid packs.

4. Chameleon

Who it is for: teams where in-app guidance has to look native, and who want A/B tests on a self-serve plan.

Pricing: Chameleon charges by monthly tracked users. At 5,000 MTUs, Pro is $750 a month and Growth is $1,750 a month billed annually. A Startup plan starts at $279 for 2,000 MTUs with 10 live experiences. The 14-day trial needs no card.

Strengths: themes and custom CSS, A/B testing and goals on Pro, a Copilot agent, and two-way integrations with tools such as HubSpot, Mixpanel and Heap.

Limits: Pro caps you at 20 live experiences, and SAML SSO costs extra on Pro and Growth.

5. Appcues

Who it is for: teams that would rather have an implementation partner than a self-serve tool.

Pricing: Appcues has Start (up to 3,000 MAUs, 10 published experiences), Grow (from 3,000 MAUs, 25) and Enterprise (100). The page shows no prices, and a free trial starts with a call.

Strengths: all features on every plan, with implementation services and a dedicated experience manager.

Limits: no self-serve price or trial. Our list of Appcues alternatives goes wider if you want to compare the group.

6. Pendo

Who it is for: larger product organizations that want analytics, guides, replay and feedback from one vendor.

Pricing: Pendo sells Base, Core and a top tier at custom MAU volumes with no public prices. New users are pointed to Novus, a free beta that monitors your product and recommends fixes. Pendo Free continues for existing customers.

Strengths: retroactive analytics, session replay from Core, and surveys and Orchestrate on the top tier.

Limits: it moves you from a published price to a sales process, and Novus isn't a free in-app guide builder.

7. Whatfix

Who it is for: organizations that also need to guide employees through internal software, which UserGuiding isn't built for.

Pricing: the Whatfix pricing page lists Standard, Premium and Enterprise with no published figures.

Strengths: Flows, Smart Tips, task lists, a self-help wiki and surveys, on employee or customer-facing apps.

Limits: a demo comes before a price, and it is much more platform than a small SaaS team needs.

8. Flows

Who it is for: engineering-led teams that want tours and surveys to use their own UI components.

Pricing: Flows is free for 100 MTUs. Pro is a $30 monthly flat fee with 600 MTUs, then volume-based rates starting at $0.05 per MTU.

Strengths: branching workflows, custom components and an MCP server for AI agents.

Limits: developers do more of the setup than with a Chrome extension builder.

9. PLG OS

Disclosure: PLG OS is our own product.

Who it is for: small SaaS teams that want a few onboarding components in their app at a low entry price.

Pricing: PLG OS is free for 100 MTUs with 1 component and 1 integration. Starter is $49 a month for 1,000 MTUs and 2 components. Growth is $149 a month for 3,000 MTUs and 5 components, and adds custom events, attributes, feature flags and audience segmentation. Scale is custom.

Strengths: components include walkthroughs, a get-started guide, a quest list, embedded onboarding tips, announcement banners, surveys and NPS. See UserGuiding vs PLG OS for a direct comparison.

Limits: plans cap how many components and integrations you can use, and MTU allowances are small on the lower plans.

How to choose a UserGuiding alternative

Start from the reason you are leaving.

  • You have a native mobile app: test Product Fruits for iOS, or talk to Userpilot about Enterprise.
  • You need analytics next to onboarding: compare Userpilot Growth with Pendo.
  • You care about design and experiments: try Chameleon.
  • You want to pay less: Flows and PLG OS have free tiers. Check the component or MTU limits against your plan.
  • Many teammates need access: Userflow lists unlimited seats on all plans.

Before you switch, list every live guide, checklist and survey. Plan to rebuild the ones that matter in the new tool, and use the move to retire the rest.
