9 Best Product Adoption Software Tools for SaaS

9 Best Product Adoption Software Tools for SaaS

The quick answer

Quick answer: product adoption software helps your customers find and keep using the features they pay for, through in-app guides, checklists, tooltips, surveys and usage data. For analytics and guidance in one contract, Pendo and Userpilot are the broad options: Pendo sells by quote, and Userpilot starts at $299 a month for up to 2,000 monthly active users (MAUs). For designing in-app experiences with less engineering help, Appcues, Chameleon and Userflow are the usual shortlist. UserGuiding and Product Fruits publish lower entry prices. If you already run Amplitude, its Guides and Surveys sit next to your data. PLG OS, our own product, offers embeddable components with a free tier of 100 monthly tracked users. Prices are as of November 2026, checked on each vendor's own site.

Product adoption software vs digital adoption platforms

The two labels overlap, but they usually point at different buyers:

  • Product adoption software (this list) runs inside the product you sell. Your product team uses it to guide your own customers toward features, then measures who adopted them.
  • Digital adoption platforms usually sit on top of software a company buys, such as a CRM or HR system, and train its employees. We compare those in our guide to digital adoption platforms.

Adoption also starts before anyone opens a tour. If your problem is getting a new B2B account live, with tasks on both sides and a shared plan, you need customer onboarding software as well. If you are still defining the goal, start with what product adoption means and the product adoption metrics worth tracking.

1. Pendo

Who it is for: larger SaaS companies that want product analytics and in-app guides from one vendor, with room to add research and feedback.

Pricing: Pendo sells Base, Core and a top plan on a custom MAU volume, and shows no list prices. Base includes product analytics and in-app guides. Core adds session replay. The top plan adds NPS, PMF and CSAT surveys, plus Orchestrate, Listen and Data Sync. The old free plan page now points to Novus, a free AI-native product in open beta that connects to your code repository and surfaces product insights.

Strengths: analytics and guidance share one data set, and Pendo says all plans include your complete data history from the day you install it.

Limits: you need a sales conversation for a price, and Novus is in beta and is not the same thing as a Base plan with guides.

2. Userpilot

Who it is for: SaaS product and growth teams that want to build in-app flows and analyze results without a second analytics tool.

Pricing: Userpilot Starter is $299 a month for up to 2,000 MAUs. Growth starts at $849 a month. Enterprise is custom.

Strengths: Starter covers in-app engagement, segmentation and tracking, usage trends and NPS surveys. Growth adds a resource center and advanced in-app surveys, and includes 100k emails and 5k session replays a month.

Limits: the features many teams want, such as the resource center, sit on Growth, so the realistic price may be well above the entry plan.

3. Appcues

Who it is for: product and marketing teams that want no-code onboarding and adoption experiences.

Pricing: Appcues prices by MAUs, installations and published experiences, and we could not confirm a US price on the page. Start covers up to 3,000 MAUs with 10 published experiences and 12 months of reporting. Grow starts at 3,000 MAUs with 25 experiences and 24 months. Enterprise is custom with 100 experiences. A free trial needs no card but starts with a call.

Strengths: a long focus on this category and a simple plan structure tied to what you publish.

Limits: the limit on published experiences is something to count before you buy, and you talk to sales before you can try it.

4. Chameleon

Who it is for: teams that care about making in-app patterns look native and want to test them.

Pricing: Chameleon has a Startup plan from $279 for 2,000 monthly tracked users, with 10 live experiences. Pro is from $750 a month for 5k tracked users, with up to 20 live experiences. Growth is from $1,250 a month for 5k tracked users, billed annually. Enterprise is by sales. There is a 14-day free trial with no card.

Strengths: product tours, embeddables, microsurveys, checklists, tooltips and modals, with themes and custom CSS. Pro includes A/B testing and goals, and AI agents build and analyze campaigns.

Limits: the jump from Startup to Pro is large, and Pro caps live experiences.

5. UserGuiding

Who it is for: smaller SaaS teams that want a broad adoption toolkit at a published price.

Pricing: UserGuiding Starter is from $249 a month, or $2,988 a year, and covers up to 2,000 MAUs. Growth is $5,988 a year at the same MAU level. Above that you book a demo for a quote.

Strengths: hotspots, checklists, resource centers, reporting and segmentation, customizable in-app surveys and an AI assistant.

Limits: you get a custom quote as soon as you pass 2,000 MAUs, so check the next price before you commit. See our UserGuiding vs PLG OS comparison for how it differs from our own product.

6. Userflow

Who it is for: teams that want many people building experiences, with no per-seat cost.

Pricing: Userflow plans start with 1,000 MAUs and include unlimited experiences and team members. Essentials and Studio are priced through a slider that did not render a figure we could confirm, so we do not quote one. Annual billing saves 20%. Both plans have a 14-day trial with no card.

Strengths: flows, tours, checklists, tooltips and announcements on every plan, AI help to build and target them, and an MCP server. Studio adds an in-app help hub.

Limits: the help hub requires Studio, and you should run the pricing slider at your own MAU count.

7. Product Fruits

Who it is for: small product teams that want tours and a knowledge base together.

Pricing: Product Fruits shows prices at 1,500 MAUs on yearly billing, which saves 25%: Starter $111, Pro $187 and Business $374 a month. Starter limits you to 15 tours and guides.

Strengths: tours, hints and a public knowledge base on Starter. Pro adds a private knowledge base, advanced integrations and automatic translations. Elvin copilot answers user questions and can launch a tour in the app.

Limits: AI conversations beyond the included amount are sold as add-on packs.

8. Amplitude Guides and Surveys

Who it is for: teams that already rely on Amplitude and want guidance tied to the same data.

Pricing: Amplitude has a Free plan with limited experiments, guides and surveys. Plus starts at $0 with the first 2M events a month free, Growth is custom, and every plan has unlimited seats. Startups with under $10M in funding and fewer than 20 employees can get one free year of Growth.

Strengths: Guides and Surveys use built-in guardrails and prioritization so users are not hit with back-to-back messages, and they can target using your existing analytics.

Limits: it makes less sense if Amplitude is not already your analytics tool.

9. PLG OS

Who it is for: startups that want embeddable adoption components at a low price. This is our own product, so weigh this entry accordingly.

Pricing: PLG OS has a free plan with 100 monthly tracked users, 1 component and 1 integration. Starter is $49 a month for 1,000 users and 2 components. Growth is $149 a month for 3,000 users and 5 components, and adds custom events, feature flags and segmentation. Scale is custom.

Strengths: the component library includes a get started guide, walkthroughs, quest lists, onboarding tips, announcement banners and a help hub.

Limits: it is priced per component, so a program using many patterns needs a higher plan, and it is not a full product analytics suite.

How to choose product adoption software

Start from the behavior you want to change, not the feature list:

  • Name one feature and one user group. A tool will not fix adoption if you cannot say who should use what, and why they would.
  • Decide where the data lives. If you need adoption data and guidance in one place, shortlist Pendo, Userpilot or Amplitude. If you already have analytics, a guidance tool such as Appcues or Chameleon may be enough.
  • Count your MAUs and your experiences. Every vendor here prices on users, and several also cap live experiences. Price the plan you will need in a year, not today.
  • Check who builds. Ask a product manager to build a checklist during the trial. If it needs an engineer each time, adoption work will wait in the backlog.
  • Pick how you will measure success. Decide on a feature adoption rate before launch, then compare users who saw the guide against those who did not.
