Quick answer: for most mobile product teams, Google Analytics for Firebase is the free baseline (no charge, unlimited reporting on up to 500 distinct events), and Mixpanel (1M events and 10K session replays a month free) or Amplitude (2M events a month free) are the main choices for funnels, retention and cohorts inside the app. PostHog adds flags, experiments and surveys on one bill with SDKs for iOS, Android, Flutter and React Native. UXCam is built around mobile session replay and automatic heatmaps, priced by monthly sessions on a custom quote. Countly is the self-hosted option. Pendo pairs mobile analytics with in-app guides, and AppsFlyer and Adjust cover install attribution rather than in-app behavior. Prices are as of October 2026, checked on each vendor's own site.
Mobile app analytics tools record what people do inside an iOS or Android app: screens viewed, taps, sign-ups, purchases and the events you define. Product teams use them to see where new users drop out of onboarding, which features bring people back and how retention changes after a release.
Three kinds of tools share the label. Product analytics tools (Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog, Countly) answer funnel, retention and cohort questions from events. Experience analytics tools (UXCam, and replay inside Mixpanel, Amplitude and Pendo) show recordings and heatmaps of individual sessions. Attribution tools (AppsFlyer, Adjust) tell marketing which campaign brought each install. Most mobile teams end up with one product analytics tool and one attribution tool.
When you compare them, check four things:

| Amplitude | Product analytics and replay | 2M events a month | Plus from $0; Growth and Enterprise custom |
| PostHog | Analytics, flags, replay | 1M events, 5K recordings a month | From $0.00005 per event |

Who it is for: app teams that want free event analytics connected to messaging, A/B testing and crash reporting in the same console.
Pricing: Firebase describes Google Analytics as an app measurement solution available at no charge, with unlimited reporting for up to 500 distinct events defined through the SDK.
Strengths: the SDK captures a set of events and user properties automatically, and audiences built in the Firebase console can be reused by other Firebase features when you target new features or notification messages. SDKs cover iOS, Android, web, Flutter, Unity and C++, and raw events can be exported to BigQuery.
Limits: the reports are built for app measurement and marketing; deeper product questions such as multi-step funnels by cohort usually move to BigQuery or a dedicated product analytics tool.
Who it is for: product teams that want self-serve funnels, retention and cohorts on mobile with replay in the same tool.
Pricing: Mixpanel Free includes up to 1M events and 10K session replays a month with unlimited seats. Growth starts at $0 with the first 1M events included, up to 20M events and 20K replays a month in the base price. Enterprise is quoted.
Strengths: the pricing page lists mobile analytics, mobile autocapture, a Flutter SDK for Android, iOS and macOS, and open-source mobile session replay for iOS and Android on every plan.
Limits: on Free you can build cohorts but not save them, and account-level Group Analytics is a paid add-on. Our Mixpanel alternatives post covers other options.
Who it is for: teams that want analytics, replay, experiments and guides from one vendor across web and mobile.
Pricing: Amplitude Free covers 2M events a month and 10K session replays with no card. Plus starts at $0 with the first 2M events free and adds custom events, behavioral cohorts, heatmaps and two-year data retention. Growth and Enterprise use custom event-based pricing.
Strengths: every plan includes the full platform with unlimited seats, and session replay covers web and mobile. Startups with fewer than 20 employees and under $10M in funding can get a free year of Growth.
Limits: advanced behavioral exploration and SSO start at Growth.
Who it is for: engineering-led teams that want analytics, feature flags, experiments and surveys for their app on one bill.
Pricing: PostHog includes 1M analytics events, 5K recordings, 1M feature flag requests and 1,500 survey responses free every month. After that, product analytics starts at $0.00005 per event and falls with volume.
Strengths: mobile SDKs for Android (Kotlin), iOS (Swift), Flutter and React Native, and each product has its own billing limit so usage cannot surprise you.
Limits: autocapture works out of the box on web; on mobile you add the SDK and define the custom events you need.
Who it is for: mobile product and UX teams that want to see why users get stuck, not only where.
Pricing: UXCam prices by monthly sessions on a custom quote, with a free trial that includes every feature.
Strengths: session replay, heatmaps that record every tap and rage tap without setup, funnels and retention analytics, plus an AI analyst called Tara that points you to the sessions worth watching. It covers websites as well as apps.
Limits: no public prices, and teams with heavy event analysis needs often pair it with an event-based tool.
Who it is for: teams that must keep app data on their own infrastructure or in a chosen region.
Pricing: Countly Lite is free forever, open source and self-hosted. Flex, a private cloud where you choose the hosting region, starts at $175 a month with a 14-day trial. Enterprise runs on-premise with custom pricing.
Strengths: SDKs for iOS, Android, web and desktop, with push notifications, A/B testing, in-app messaging, surveys and remote config in the Adaptivity add-on.
Limits: on Flex, funnels, retention and flows sit in the paid Intelligence add-on, which Enterprise includes.
Who it is for: B2B teams that want mobile analytics and in-app guides in the same tool as their web app.
Pricing: Pendo Free covers up to 500 monthly active users with analytics, in-app guides and Pendo-branded NPS surveys. Base, Core and a top tier are priced on request by MAU.
Strengths: Pendo for Mobile supports iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter apps, with mobile session replay and in-app guides.
Limits: session replay is an add-on on Base and included from Core, and on Free, going over 500 MAU blocks new guides, NPS surveys and segments.
Who it is for: growth teams that need to know which campaign or channel brought each install.
Pricing: AppsFlyer Zero is free for owned media and not suitable for paid activities. Growth is pay as you go: a welcome package includes 12K free conversions in the first year, then conversions cost $0.07 each. Enterprise is custom.
Strengths: mobile, web, CTV and PC attribution, deep linking and fraud protection on Enterprise.
Limits: it measures acquisition, not in-app product behavior, so it sits next to a product analytics tool rather than replacing one.
Who it is for: app marketers who want attribution plus post-install KPIs such as retention and LTV.
Pricing: Adjust Base is free and includes the Core feature set for up to 1,500 monthly attributions for up to 12 months. Core and Enterprise are priced on volume.
Strengths: click and impression attribution, unlimited organic installs, impressions and clicks, and unlimited post-install KPI tracking for LTV, retention, sessions and custom events.
Limits: like AppsFlyer, it answers where users came from; screen-level behavior needs a product analytics tool.
Flurry says its mobile analytics SDK and UI were sunset on March 15, 2024. Embrace is now owned by Palo Alto Networks and focuses on performance monitoring and real user monitoring rather than product analytics. If recordings are your main need, our session replay tools list compares replay-first options across web and mobile.
Start with the questions. If they are about activation and retention, pick a product analytics tool; if they are about which ads work, add an attribution tool. Check SDK support for your exact stack before anything else, then estimate monthly events, sessions or MAU and price each tool on its own unit.
For a broader comparison that includes web-first tools, see our product analytics tools guide, and to group users by install week or first action, see our cohort analysis tools. Analytics shows where mobile users stall; fixing it happens in the app itself, which is where the mobile onboarding tools we compared come in.
