10 Best Session Replay Tools for SaaS Teams

10 Best Session Replay Tools for SaaS Teams

The quick answer

Quick answer: if you only need to watch recordings and heatmaps on a website, Microsoft Clarity is free with no paid plan. For product teams, PostHog includes 5,000 web recordings a month free, then $0.005 per recording, and Amplitude includes 10K replays a month on its free plan next to its analytics. For debugging, LogRocket (free at 1,000 sessions a month, $83 a month at 10K sessions on annual billing) and Sentry (Team plan $26 a month billed annually) tie replays to errors. Contentsquare, which replaced Hotjar, has a 200K-session free plan, and Fullstory has a free plan of 30,000 sessions a month. For self-hosting, OpenReplay is open source, and for native mobile apps, UXCam is built around app sessions. Prices are as of October 2026, checked on each vendor's own site.

What session replay is and what to look for

Session replay reconstructs a user's visit from page changes, clicks, scrolls and inputs, so you can watch where someone hesitated, rage-clicked or gave up. Many tools rebuild the page from recorded DOM changes rather than capturing video, which also lets them mask sensitive fields before data leaves the browser.

Five things separate the tools. First, the billing unit: sessions, recordings, events or data ingest. Second, sampling: some plans record only a share of sessions. Third, context: product teams want funnels and segments next to the replay, while engineers want console logs, network calls and errors. Fourth, platform: web only, or native iOS and Android too. Fifth, privacy and hosting: masking defaults, data residency and whether you can self-host.

1. Microsoft Clarity

Who it is for: marketing sites, content sites and early SaaS teams that want replay and heatmaps at no cost.

Pricing: Clarity says it is free forever, with no traffic limits and no paid version. Its FAQ says it records up to 100,000 sessions per project per day and keeps recordings for 30 days (favorites and a random sample for up to 9 months).

Strengths: session recordings, click, scroll and area heatmaps, rage-click and dead-click insights, funnels, Copilot summaries, a Google Analytics integration and a mobile SDK for Android, iOS, Flutter and React Native.

Limits: Microsoft says it uses the behavior data to improve machine learning models and does not share it with third parties. There are no surveys, flags or deep event analytics.

2. PostHog

Who it is for: product and engineering teams that want replay, product analytics, flags and surveys in one place.

Pricing: every month includes 5,000 web and 2,500 mobile recordings free. After that, PostHog session replay starts at $0.0050 per recording and falls to $0.0015 with volume. Replays are kept 1 month on the free plan and 3 months on pay-as-you-go.

Strengths: web and mobile replay (iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter), console and network logs, privacy masking, conditional recording, and AI summaries, all linked to its analytics. A Docker Compose deployment is available under an MIT licence.

Limits: the free plan allows one project, and PostHog states that self-hosted deployments are officially unsupported. More in our PostHog alternatives guide.

3. LogRocket

Who it is for: teams where engineers and product managers both use replay to find and fix issues.

Pricing: LogRocket charges for sessions captured. Its calculator shows a free plan at 1,000 sessions a month, $83 a month at 10,000 sessions and $176 a month at 25,000 sessions, both based on annual plan savings. A 14-day free trial needs no card.

Strengths: analytics events, error events and logs are unlimited on every plan, plus heatmaps, rage-click maps, funnels, path analysis and front-end performance monitoring. Enterprise can be self-hosted.

Limits: LogRocket says the final price depends on seats, retention and add-ons. See LogRocket alternatives if those terms do not fit.

4. Fullstory

Who it is for: larger product and digital teams that want replay-led behavior analytics.

Pricing: FullstoryFree includes 30,000 sessions a month and 12 months of data retention for up to 10 users, with no card. Business, Advanced and Enterprise are "Request pricing".

Strengths: session replay, heatmaps, click and scroll maps, developer tools, funnels and segmentation.

Limits: no public paid prices; Mobile Analytics and Guides and Surveys are add-ons, and dashboards need a paid plan. Our FullStory alternatives list covers its rivals.

5. Contentsquare

Who it is for: UX, CRO and marketing teams, including former Hotjar users.

Pricing: Free includes 200K monthly sessions and one project, but replay captures 5% of sessions (max 10K). Contentsquare Growth is $39 a month billed annually ($49 monthly) from 7K monthly sessions plus 7K replays. Pro and Enterprise are "Let's talk". New accounts get a 15-day Growth trial.

Strengths: replays, heatmaps, funnels, error and performance monitoring and basic surveys on Free, with zone-based heatmaps and journey analysis on Growth.

Limits: Contentsquare says it is no longer possible to create a new Hotjar account. Details are in our Hotjar alternatives post.

6. Sentry

Who it is for: developers who want a replay attached to every error report.

Pricing: the free Developer plan is limited to one user. Sentry Team is $26 a month and Business $80 a month, both billed annually with default pre-paid data. Developer, Team and Business each include 50 replays a month; extra replays on Team start at $0.00375 each pay-as-you-go. New users get 5,000 free replays a month for their first 3 months.

Strengths: replays shown inside issue details with console output, network calls, traces and web vitals; rage-click and dead-click detection; mobile replay for React Native, Android, iOS and Flutter.

Limits: built for debugging rather than product analytics, and the free plan is for one user only.

7. Amplitude

Who it is for: product teams that want replay inside their product analytics.

Pricing: Amplitude Free includes 2M events and 10K session replays a month. Plus starts at $0 with the first 2M events free (card required). Growth (20K monthly replays) and Enterprise (50K) are custom.

Strengths: every plan includes analytics, session replay, experimentation, and guides and surveys, so replays sit next to your funnels and cohorts; heatmaps come with Plus and above.

Limits: replay is one part of a larger analytics plan, and Growth and Enterprise prices are not published.

8. Mouseflow

Who it is for: small and mid-sized teams that want published prices and friction detection.

Pricing: Free covers 500 sessions a month. Mouseflow Essential is $25 a month billed annually ($39 monthly, 5,000 sessions), Advanced $109 ($149 monthly, 25,000 sessions) and Premium $319 ($399 monthly, 100,000 sessions). Essential and Advanced have a 14-day free trial.

Strengths: replays, heatmaps, friction detection, funnels, form analytics, journey analytics and feedback surveys, with unlimited users.

Limits: data retention runs from 1 month on Free to 12 months on Premium.

9. OpenReplay

Who it is for: teams that must keep replay data on their own infrastructure.

Pricing: the open-source edition is free to self-host. OpenReplay Dedicated, a managed instance in your chosen cloud region, starts at $199 a month, billed hourly, with a 7-day trial. Enterprise is self-hosted with custom pricing.

Strengths: session replay with developer tools, co-browsing, funnels, heatmaps and journey analysis.

Limits: the repository uses several licences (AGPL v3 by default, some MIT parts and a separately licensed enterprise directory), so check the terms before modifying it.

10. UXCam

Who it is for: teams whose main product is a native mobile app.

Pricing: UXCam prices by monthly session volume with a custom quote after a free trial with full feature access.

Strengths: mobile app and web analytics, session replay, heatmaps, user journey analytics, issue analytics and an AI analyst called Tara.

Limits: no public prices.

Tools we left out or would use with care

Hotjar no longer accepts new sign-ups; it is now part of Contentsquare. Smartlook joined Cisco and its End of Sale took effect on 31 May 2026, with the platform decommissioned on 30 September 2027. Highlight.io joined LaunchDarkly, and its replay now sits inside LaunchDarkly's observability product.

How to choose a session replay tool

Start with who will watch the recordings. If it is marketers and designers, Clarity, Contentsquare or Mouseflow keep things simple. If it is product managers, pick the replay that sits next to your analytics (PostHog, Amplitude or Fullstory). If it is engineers, LogRocket or Sentry show errors and network calls in the same view. Then check the billing unit against your traffic, the sampling rate on the plan you can afford, and mobile support if you ship apps. Our user behavior analytics software guide adds wider context, and our product analytics tools roundup covers the event side.

Replay shows where users get stuck; fixing it often means a guide, a help widget or a quick survey at that point in the product. PLG OS offers those in-app components, with a free tier of 100 MTUs and any one component.
